  “Absolutely sure,” he assured her.

  A moment later, she clamped the handcuffs onto his wrists, then looked at him. “Are they too tight?”

  He chuckled. “Trust me, Em. My mind isn’t on the cuffs. I’m waiting for you to tell me what you want me to do next.” He leaned forward and brushed his lips against hers. “It might be a good idea to have the key handy.”

  She laughed nervously, then looked around. “Where is the key?”

  He grinned. “In my front pocket.”

  Emily’s eyes widened, her mind a bit flummoxed for a brief moment. Then she slowly smiled, shaking her head. “You did that on purpose, didn’t you?”

  Kurt shrugged. “It was a fortunate oversight on both of our parts,” he suggested.

  She laughed, feeling a bit more of the tension leave her. “You’re a horrible man.” She leaned forward, “But you’re my horrible man for tonight.”

  Something flashed in his eyes but Emily was too nervous to interpret what he might be thinking.

  “Okay, so now what do I do?” she asked.

  “Take the key out of my pocket and put it on the bedside table,” he told her.

  She looked down at his jeans and noticed the very obvious erection there. For a moment, she hesitated, but when she looked back up at his blue eyes, there was a challenge there. Pity, she would have rejected. But a dare? Oh yeah, she wasn’t going to back down from a challenge!

  Moving closer, she pushed her fingertips down into his left pocket, watching his eyes the whole time. He helped by lifting his hands up over both of their heads, their eyes locked as her fingers went deeper and deeper, searching in the pocket for the key.

  “I can’t find it,” she told him, her voice barely a whisper.

  He grinned as he said, “It’s in the right pocket.”

  Emily sighed, but couldn’t stop the grin. And as punishment, she slid her fingers out of his left pocket slowly, “accidentally” letting her fingers brush up against his erection. There was still two layers of fabric between her fingers and his body, but she could still feel the steel strength of him.

  “Em…!” he groaned.

  She ignored his warning tone and pushed her fingers into the other pocket. Unfortunately, she found the key to the cuffs quickly, but still allowed her fingers to slide slowly out of the material. She heard another moan and laughed, feeling decidedly evil at the moment.

  She carefully placed the key onto the bedside table, then turned back to face him. “Okay, now what?”

  Kurt watched her carefully, getting more turned on by the moment. He noticed that her cheeks were flushed and the points of her nipples were now pressing against the material of her blouse, but she was still hesitant. It suddenly occurred to him that she might not know how sex was supposed to work between two consenting adults. Damn, that was going to put a bit of a crimp in his plans.

  But he was up for the job and more than willing to give her direction.

  “How about if you start by taking off my shoes and socks?” he suggested.

  Emily laughed. “Really? That’s what you want me to take off?”

  He lifted his hands again, looping her into his embrace. “Shoes and socks always come off first. Trust me, no man looks good with just his shoes and socks on. It’s never, ever, a good look.”

  Emily laughed and he loved the sound so much that he lowered his head, nuzzling her neck. She seemed to like that and moved closer, pressing her breasts against his chest. And he liked that!

  “You’re not very efficient at this, are you?” he teased, moving his mouth to her ear and nibbling on the shell there. She shivered and he heard a soft moan, so he continued teasing and torturing that spot.

  “You’re going to have to stop doing that if you want me to get your shoes and socks off, Kurt.”

  He smiled, moved to a new place and felt her fingers curl up into fists on his shirt. “Not sure I can stop.”

  She sighed, closing her eyes and leaning her head back so that he had more room. Kurt immediately took advantage of that extra space on her neck and moved again and again, finding all of the delicious spots along her neckline that made her moan or sigh. “Shoes,” he breathed urgently in her ear.

  Emily nodded, but she didn’t look as completely aware of the world as she used to be. Thankfully, she knelt down and untied his shoes, slipping them off of his feet. She worked his socks off as well. Kurt loved the image of her down on her knees like that, but pushed that thought aside. Later, he promised himself. When she was more comfortable around him, he’d teach her all the various ways they could pleasure each other.

  When she stood up, her eyes seemed…satisfied. Because she’d taken off his socks? He almost laughed, because they were going to get so much more off in the next few minutes.

  “Now what?” she asked.

  “How about if you unbutton my shirt?” he offered.

  Damn, he loved it when she licked her lips like that! Her pink tongue darted out and he instantly thought of…No! He had to focus on the here and now. He had to be careful and slow.

  That’s when he felt her fingers against his bare skin and he almost lost it right there. “Em! Your fingers feel so good!”

  She smiled up at him, but then her eyes focused back on his chest, on unbuttoning the blue shirt he’d donned this morning after leaving her apartment. Button after button was opened and her soft fingers spread the material wide, sliding against his bare skin and he would have sworn that it was the best feeling in the entire world!   “Take off your shirt, Em,” he ordered.

  “Will you take off the bra?” he asked, wanting to see her breasts, needing to taste her nipples and see their color. His hands shifted, straining against the metal cuffs, needing to hold her breasts in his hands. “I want to touch you, honey. But I know that it will have to wait.”

  Shockingly, Emily reached around and, with shaking fingers, she unlatched her bra, letting it fall to the floor.

  Kurt stared at her, his body aching to touch her, to hold her. She looked so nervous and so damn beautiful! “Honey, you can stop this if it doesn’t feel right.”

  In response, she stepped closer, lifting his hands up and, even though they were cuffed together, he was able to hold one, his thumb rubbing against the tip. Emily reached out, grabbing his arms as he continued to torment her nipples. “Come over here,” he said and moved to sit on the bed. “Straddle my hips.”

  She followed him over to the bed and started to do as he directed, but her skirt was still on and she hesitated. “I’m...um…”

  “Just take it off, honey. It’s going to come off eventually.”

  Emily hesitated for only a moment, her eyes moving over his shoulders, chest and rested for a long moment on his groin where his erection was pressing against the zipper of his jeans so hard, he was pretty sure he’d have a zipper impression against him later.   When she reached behind her to unzip the skirt, he watched as the material fell away. She was even more beautiful than he’d realized. Then he moved his mouth back to her neck, finding all of those spots again and Emily struggled to keep her mind from splintering into many directions. Unfortunately…or maybe fortunately, he twisted around so that she was on her back as he loomed over her, but his mouth moved lower, lower until his mouth covered her nipple. That was the last conscious thought she had. The electric shock of having him kiss her like that, his tongue and teeth moving against the sensitized tip, Emily was just…lost.   “Take off my jeans, love,” he urged.

  Emily wiggled out from underneath him and he rolled onto his back. She didn’t hesitate this time as she unzipped his jeans and tugged them down off of his legs. His boxers were next and she pulled them down over his long, muscular legs, letting her fingers trail along those muscles as she moved back up his body.

  “Give me the condom, Em,” he groaned, closing his eyes as her fingers traced the muscles in his legs.

  She moved back to the bedside table and grabbed the condom next to the key. And because she felt so good and trusted him, she also grabbed the keys to the handcuffs, releasing his wrists and tossing everything over her shoulder. There was a loud think as the metal cuffs hit the floor, but by that point, Kurt had wrapped his arms around her, sliding his hands around from her back to her waist, then higher to cup both of her breasts as his mouth covered hers. Over and over, he kissed her as his hands and fingers teased her breasts, making her crazy. She screamed out when his mouth moved over her nipple again, but he wouldn’t relent, continuing to make her shift against him.

  “Please, Kurt!” she moaned.

  When Emily finally opened her eyes and took a breath, it was to find Kurt watching her, a look in his eyes that sent another shiver throughout her whole body.

  “That was hot!” he groaned. He moved his fingers out of her body, sliding his hand up her stomach to her breasts again. “I think we should do that all over again.” And with that, he shifted so that he was over her, his hips pressed between her knees. He lifted up and donned protection, watching her the whole time. “Tell me if you don’t want this, Em.”

  She licked her lips and stared at him as he rolled the condom down over his erection. “I do,” she promised. She could feel her heart beating in her chest, nervousness and worry right there, but also excitement. “You’ve been very sweet,” she said.

  “Good,” he groaned, then moved lower, pressing her legs wider. “Tell me to stop if anything hurts.”

  Slowly, almost too slowly, he pressed into her heat. One hand slid against her waist, going higher to cup her breast again. “You okay?” he asked, pulling out then pressing into her again, slowly and deeper this time.

  “Yes!” she gasped, lifting her hips to take more of him. “Yes, please!”

  Over and over, he thrust into her until he was fully embedded into her heat. For a long moment, he just stayed like that, feeling her body tremble. Then he started moving. Watching her, Kurt shifted until he saw the heat in her eyes return.

  “Tilt your hips when I press into you, honey,” he suggested, then moved his hand down so that her hips tilted a bit more. “Yes. Like that!” and he closed his eyes when the different angle caused her body to almost shiver with each of his thrusts. That was all it took to take Emily over the edge. She screamed out, her body arching into his and he thrust into her again and again as her second climax overwhelmed her. The tightening of her inner muscles took him over the edge as well and he followed her into oblivion. It took every part of him to keep thrusting and extend her pleasure.

  In the end, he couldn’t hold back. All he could do was hold her carefully and not crush her when he collapsed in the aftermath of one of the best experiences of his entire life.

  And yet, even after it was all over, he still needed her in his arms. With the last bit of his dwindling energy, he stood up and threw away the condom, cleaned up slightly, then stumbled back to the bed and pulled her into his arms.

  Chapter 10

  “I’m going home, Kurt,” she told him firmly. “I need to go home.”

  “Why?” he demanded, furious and feeling as if something wasn’t right. He couldn’t explain it to her because he just…he knew! He’d sound like an idiot if he said that to her though.

  “Because I’ve been here all weekend and we’ve barely left the bed.”

  He grinned, thinking back to all that they’d done together. “Yeah. Nice,” he growled and pulled her into his arms, nuzzling her neck. He’d discovered that first time that she was extra sensitive on her neck and he loved it. In fact, she was extra sensitive everywhere, and he loved all of that too!

  Hell, he loved her! He wanted to propose right there, right now. But…was it crazy to propose to a woman he’d known for about two weeks? Probably. Although, he didn’t really care. He wanted her in his life. It wasn’t just the sex either, although that had been mind-blowing. It was Emily. He liked being around her. He liked talking with her and loving her and laughing with her. They’d watched a football game this afternoon and he’d held her in his arms as he’d explained the finer points of each play. And last night, they’d had a heated debate about the most influential person in history. The only thing he could find that he didn’t like was that she preferred wine and he liked beer. Otherwise, they were completely in sync.

  She huffed a bit at his response, rolling her eyes. “Kurt. If I stay here any longer, I’m going to be walking funny.”

  He laughed and pulled her closer. “No intercourse. We’ll use our mouths from now on.”

  He knew that she liked that idea because she shivered and pressed closer to him. But in the end, she still was firm about her leaving. “Kurt, I need to get home to my place.”

  He sighed, lifting his head. “Fine. We’ll go to your place.” He stood and carried her into the bathroom. Emily laughed because he really loved carrying her around for some reason. She suspected it was his protective instincts, but doubted he would agree with her.

  They dressed and she made the bed, unable to leave the bedroom in such disarray. Kurt made lunch for them and she gratefully devoured the sandwich and iced tea. “Thank you!” she whispered, lifting up onto her toes to kiss him goodbye. “I’m heading home now.”

  He reached around her waist, pulling her in for a deeper kiss. When he lifted his head, he laughed at her softened gaze. “I’m coming with you, Em,” he told her in a tone that didn’t allow for argument.

  She lifted a hand to stop him, obviously ignoring his voice. “You don’t need to come with me, Kurt. I’m sure that you have things you need to do around here. I just want to make sure everything is okay.” She watched as he pulled the gun out of the closet safe, pushing it into the holster on his belt, then pulling his flannel shirt over the top.

  He winked in her direction as he slid his badge onto the belt next. “Exactly what I want to do,” he told her. “Come on, honey. Let’s go check out your place. You can get more clothes and co
me back here.”

  She pulled back, looking up at him but didn’t pull her hand out of his. For a moment, she just stared at him, her eyes moving over each of his features. “What’s wrong?”

  He paused, debating what to tell her. Honesty, he thought. She deserved his honesty. “Fine,” he sighed, rubbing his forehead. “You’re going to think I’m crazy though.”

  “I won’t,” she assured him, lifting her hand and placing it in the middle of his chest. “Tell me why you’re so against me leaving.”

  “Well, first of all, you’re only leaving because you think you’re in my way,” he pointed out.

  “I am in your way! I’ve been here all weekend and you need your space.”

  He kissed the top of her head. “Em, if you need your own space, that’s one thing. But don’t tell me that I need it because that’s a load of…bull,” he said, substituting one word for another that was a bit less crass. “I like having you here. Hell, I think you should just move in right now.”

  That was startling and she opened her mouth to argue, but the only words that came out of her mouth were, “Not gonna happen, big guy.” And then she narrowed her eyes at him. “What else?”

  He sighed again. “I can’t really tell you.”

  “Are you hiding something from me?” she demanded, crossing her arms over her chest. “Is there something that Keith discovered that you’re not telling me?’

  He shook his head, taking her hands in his, his thumb rubbing over the back of her hand. “No. It’s nothing like that. It’s just that…” he paused and looked up at the ceiling. “It’s exactly what I said. I can’t tell you because…there’s no solid reason why I don’t want you going back to your apartment. I just…something is wrong, Em. I don’t know what, but I feel it.”

  She looked at him for a long moment, brown eyes staring into blue as she tossed his words around in her mind. Finally, she nodded. “Okay. Fine. You have a sense that something is wrong. But I still need some clean clothes.”
