  Chapter 2

  “What are you getting Caleb for his graduation present?” Loretta asked, hauling a forty pound bag of flour from the storage room to the countertop.

  Jane blinked back the tears. “I’m not talking about that,” she announced and walked out to the customer area. There wasn’t anyone to help, but she couldn’t talk to her mother. Not about that. Not about Caleb…leaving.

  Jane felt her mother come up behind her. “Honey, I’m sorry,” she said and wrapped her arms around Jane’s shoulders. “I didn’t realize that you felt so strongly about him.”

  Jane swung around, burying her face in her mother’s hair. “I love him, Mom! I love him so much!” She cried, thinking about graduation. She was genuinely happy for Caleb, he was graduating at the top of his class, valedictorian!

  But he’d been accepted to Vanderbilt University, which was two and a half hours away! How were they going to see each other? She was going to be a junior in high school and he’d be off in college. With college girls. And college thoughts and college dorm rooms with college dorm room privacy.

  “Jane,” her mother rubbed Jane’s back softly. “He wants to go to medical school. He’s going to be a great doctor.”

  “Surgeon,” she corrected.

  Loretta smiled. “Surgeon. He’s going to save people’s lives.”

  Jane knew all of this. She knew that Caleb was brilliant and that he wanted to learn to be a surgeon. She knew all of it because the two of them had talked about it over the past several months. She knew his dreams and he knew hers. Well, most of hers. Her biggest dream was to be with Caleb for the rest of her life.

  “I know that he has to go off to school, Mom. But that doesn’t mean I have to like it.”

  Loretta laughed, squeezing her daughter closer. “I know. But you know what? You’re strong. And you’re going to get through this.” Pulling back, she looked down into Jane’s pretty blue eyes. “And you’re only going to be two and a half hours away from him. You could take the delivery van down there in the morning and spend the day with him on the weekends and be back by night.”

  She’d never thought about taking the delivery truck, but the idea of being able to drive down to see him helped brighten her mood. “Really? You’d let me take the van?”

  “Sure!” Loretta replied. “Whatever happens, we’ll work something out, okay?”

  Jane smiled, relieved that she had a plan. “And maybe I could bring a batch of cookies down to the dorm rooms and sell them there.”

  Loretta laughed. “That’s the spirit!” she replied, giving her daughter another hug. “Always the entrepreneur!”

  At Caleb’s graduation ceremony, Jane cheered the loudest, jumping up and down when he took to the stage to receive his diploma. And when he gave his valedictorian speech, there were tears in her eyes as he read, “Goodbyes hurt when the story is not finished and the book has been closed. That’s a quote from someone but I don’t know who. It certainly applies here. There are so many people in this audience, in the class. And our stories are not finished,” he looked right at Jane and her heart ballooned with hope. “Our stories continue on. We have so many more chapters to write. This is only the ending of our high school chapter. In many ways, this is the beginning, not the ending.”

  The audience erupted in cheers and then a standing ovation. Everyone was on their feet and Jane, a bit shorter than everyone else, was able to wipe her tears away as she clapped so hard that her hands ached.

  Chapter 3

  18 Years Old…

  “I’m leaving, Mom!” she called through the doors. Grabbing the keys, she headed through the delivery door.

  Loretta came out of the kitchen, wiping her hands on her apron. “You have your hotel room confirmation?” she asked.

  Jane grinned. “On my phone,” she assured her mother, holding up her cell phone.

  “You have the cookies I made for him?”

  “Already in the truck.” She kissed her mother’s cheek. “I’m going to be fine, Mom.”

  She’d turned eighteen yesterday. She and Caleb had been planning this night for a long time. Every time she’d gone down to visit him at Vanderbilt, they’d been intimate, but so far, he’d stopped them from “going all the way” as Jane put it.

  “When you’re eighteen,” he’d promised.

  Jane had never liked that statement. “But why?!”

  “Because I want you to be sure,” he’d answered over and over again.

  If Jane were any more sure of this decision, she might have tied him down to the bed.

  But no more waiting, she thought. Tonight was it. She was leaving early and planned to get to Nashville by five o’clock. That would give her enough time to shower and change into the lingerie she’d found at a small specialty store in Louisville. Tonight was the night! She was finally going to have sex with Caleb!

  Oh, they’d been exploring each other’s bodies for a while now! She knew how to touch him, how to make him crazy with her fingers, hands, and her mouth. And he was becoming an expert at making her scream his name as well. But they’d held back. Two years! They’d been dating for two years now and they hadn’t had intercourse. How crazy was that?!

  All of her friends had already had sex. And yes, Jane knew that she could have experimented with several of the guys in her class. But they weren’t Caleb. He was…different. Special. He was amazing! She loved him now more than she had on his graduation day. They saw each other at least twice a month, either when she went down to Nashville or he came here to LowPoint. And she knew that he loved her just as intensely. Every time they saw each other, he pulled her into his arms and kissed her until they could barely breathe.

  But tonight…! She was finally going to know what it feels like to be intimate, completely, with a man! With Caleb!

  Jane had to watch her speed as she traveled the highway down to Nashville. Too often, she glanced at the speedometer and found that she was going ten, fifteen, even twenty miles per hour over the speed limit. She was just so excited to see him.

  Pulling into the hotel parking lot, she practically leapt out of the delivery van and headed towards the main office.

  “I have a reservation,” she announced to the clerk behind the counter. Ten minutes later, she had the key card to a hotel room for the entire weekend! She felt the trembling in her start, anticipation making her mind go a little crazy. Shower, she planned. Then make up. Then the bustier and garters. Underwear or no underwear? Oh, the delicious decisions she had to make.

  Stepping into the shower, she lathered herself with the vanilla scented body wash she’d purchased. Her hair was newly trimmed as well, so as soon as she stepped out of the shower, she dried her hair with the diffuser, allowing the curls to frame her face. She went to a salon now, no longer letting her mother chop away at her blond locks. The result was a much more flattering cut that framed her face. She’d also lost more than twenty pounds over the past two years. She’d started exercising, cutting out all of the sugar from her diet and drinking more water. Her skin had cleared up ages ago, but the rest of her had matured and Jane was proud of her figure now.

  It took several weird contortions to get the bustier in place and all the snaps done, but when she turned to survey her image in the mirror, the results were perfect. The white lace bustier cupped her breasts and pushed them higher. The boning pulled in at the waist, giving herself an hourglass figure. She’d even gone ahead and shaved everything. She was completely bare and she let her fingers flutter over that area that looked smooth and neat now.

  “Can’t do that,” she told herself. “Too ready to explode.” If she touched herself even slightly, she might just climax because she was so wound up. “All for Caleb,” she whispered.

  Thinking that, she left off her underwear, slipping the stockings up and hooking the tops to the garters. “Perfect!” she thought. She lifted her breasts up a bit. Added a small dash of perfume, then pulled the silk robe on. “Ready!”

tes later, there was a knock on the door.

  She took a breath, leaning her forehead against the door. “This is it,” she thought. Then pulled the door open.

  Caleb was there. And he looked…amazing! He’d grown taller during the two years at college and now really towered over her. His shoulders were wider and, because he was still running track and lifting weights, he was more muscular.

  “Janey!” he groaned as soon as he saw her. A moment later, she was in his arms and he was kissing her. “Damn, I missed you!” And then he was kissing her again. His hands moved to her waist over the silk robe and then…stopped. Pulling back, he looked down at her. “Jane, what are you wearing?” he demanded, a slow, sexy smile forming.

  Jane laughed nervously. “Well, remember how you promised that we could have sex…”

  “Make love, Jane.”

  Her fingers gripped the sides of his jacket. She was incredibly nervous and outrageously excited. “Right, make love, when I turned eighteen?”

  “Yes,” he said and his grin widened. “You’re eighteen now,” he said softly. His voice was so deep. So sexy. His fingers tangled with the silk tie of her robe. “I’m guessing that you have something special underneath this robe?”

  “Yeah,” she breathed, trying to laugh in a sexy manner, but she was too turned on and too nervous. “I thought that tonight deserved a special outfit.”

  His fingers deftly untied the sash, then pulled the sides away. He didn’t say anything for a long moment. He just stared at her. At the lace. Her breasts pushed up, plumped up above the boning of the bustier. Then his eyes traveled lower. She knew the exact moment that he realized what she’d done because his eyes widened. “Damn, Jane!”

  “Do you like it?” she asked.

  He grinned rakishly. “I don’t know,” and he pulled her closer. “I’m going to have to see it from a better angle.” He scooped her into his arms and carried her over to the bed. Placing her in the middle, he laid down beside her. “Nice surprise,” he teased, his fingers moving over the lace, teasing her nipples that were just under the edge.

  “Caleb!” she sighed, reaching up, intending to move his hand.

  “No, this is my present,” he told her and kissed her gently. “I get to unwrap you however I want!”

  Jane laughed, but she pulled her hands away. “I didn’t know I was a present,” she teased.

  “In this?” he asked, looking down at her white bustier and white garters. “You’re my fantasy, Jane.”

  Jane really liked the sound of that. “And what do you do in your fantasies?” she asked, trembling slightly. But she wasn’t nervous. Not any longer. Nope, she was excited. She loved the way his fingers kept brushing back and forth over her breast, so close, painfully close to her nipple. But not quite touching it. Nope, he was teasing her. Tormenting her. They’d been doing this to each other for years and knew how to do it really well.

  “I don’t know,” he murmured, his eyes moving down further. “I think I’m going to have to take my time and figure it out.” With that, he lowered his head, his mouth teasing the line of lace just above her nipple. Then his tongue slipped below the lace, tormenting her nipple, teasing it but not giving her enough. She reached to pull her breast out, but he grabbed her wrist. “No, Jane. Remember? You’re my present. I’m doing the unwrapping.”

  She felt her heart pound inside of her chest, but she lowered her hand to the bed. “Could you speed up the unveiling?”

  He laughed, shaking his head. “Nope. You’re mine to unveil. I’m going to enjoy this,” and he slipped his finger under the material, causing Jane’s back to arch. “Say my name, Jane,” he whispered as his finger moved back and forth over the taut peak.

  “Caleb!” she gasped, shifting, turning towards him in an effort to find some relief.

  “And you love me, right?” he teased, pinching ever so slightly.

  “I love you so much!” she gasped.

  His hand moved inside, scooping one breast out from the boning material. “And you love it when I do this,” his mouth closed over her nipple, teasing it until she tried to pull his head away. “I love it,” she groaned. “I love it too much.”

  “Can’t love it too much, Jane,” he argued, his hand lifting the other breast, freeing it so that his mouth could torment that one as well. When he had her screaming his name again, only then did he move lower.

  His hand skimmed along the material, shaking his head. “I like you in this. It looks like it is tight and controlling, isn’t it?”

  Jane moaned, loving it when he pulled this control thing on her. She also loved it when she controlled him. They alternated, taking turns at who was in charge and both of them loved the role reversals.

  “Yes. It’s tight,” she acknowledged, wiggling in an effort to get him to hurry up. She felt like her body was on fire.

  “Sounds interesting,” he mumbled and took her nipple into his mouth once more. Jane groaned, but she didn’t stop him. She knew that he would tie her hands up above her head if she did and she wanted a small bit of control. Sort of. Okay, not really because she loved it when he tied her hands out of the way. She also loved tying his hands and experimenting, but he wasn’t relinquishing control tonight.

  “I think this whole outfit is lovely,” and his hand moved lower, his fingers skimming along her upper thighs.

  “Caleb, please, can we …”

  “You’re going to be quiet, Jane,” he warned, shifting lower. “Remember what happened last time?”

  She did! He drove her wild! “Caleb…!”

  His hand slid under the straps of her garters, making circles on her thighs. Closer and closer his fingers came to that spot that was literally throbbing for his attention.

  “You’re so wet, Jane,” he breathed. “I love the smell of you when you are aroused like this. All for me, right?”

  “Yes,” she opened her legs wider. She knew that he’d push them even farther apart, but she was trying to tempt him.

  “Not going to work, Jane,” he laughed. His fingers continued circling, making her crazy. “I love that you’re trying though. What else could you do that might tempt me to go faster?”

  She groaned, knowing that he wouldn’t let her use her hands. She couldn’t touch him or herself or he’d tie her up.

  But she could talk to him. She smiled just thinking about that possibility. “I’m going to lay here like this and think about what will happen when I get my turn with you,” she told him softly. Her smile widened when his eyes narrowed. “I will start by kissing your chest, letting my hair tickle your skin,” she promised. Her hips shifted slightly, drawing his attention away from her lips and back to where she wanted his focus. “And then I’m going to kiss my way down that dark line of hair on your stomach, stopping right above ...”

  He groaned. “Oh Jane,” he slipped a finger into her wet heat. She gasped, shifting so that his fingers moved deeper into her body.

  “And then I’m going to kiss your thighs, biting on that spot right near your hip that made you lose control last time…”

  Caleb flipped his finger around so that it was pressing against the top of her body and she gasped, feeling his fingers tickling that spot. She was so close! So close she could almost taste it! But… “Caleb, I really want you inside me when I climax this time.” She opened her eyes and looked down at him. “Please? Please don’t…” he flicked that nub once and she groaned, arcing her body. “I’m so close. Just…”

  She heard the condom wrapper tear open and looked at him. “I’ve been on the pill for over a month in anticipation of this,” she told him. “And since neither of us have been with anyone else, we don’t need that, Caleb.”

  He looked down at her, his eyes bright with the desire surging through him. “You thought this through, didn’t you,” he replied, tossing the condom away. He grabbed her hands and lifted them higher even as he pressed his knee between her legs, spreading them wider to make room for him.

  “Yes. I’ve be
en thinking about this for too long. Make love to me, Caleb,” she sighed, lifting her hips up to press against his erection. He was just as ready. She could tell! After two years of experimenting with different ways to make love to each other, this was their final step.

  Slowly, carefully, he pressed into her. “Tell me if I’m hurting you,” he ordered.

  She shook her head. “You’d never hurt me, Caleb! I trust you completely.”

  “Jane!” he groaned, closing his eyes to try and regain control. But Jane didn’t want him to have control. She wanted to feel him inside of her, wanted to know what it was like to hold all of him in her body. Lifting her hips, she pressed him deeper and he released her hands. Immediately, she grabbed his hips, pulling him in even deeper and she smiled slightly when he groaned.

  “Jane, you have to slow down. I don’t want to hurt you.”

  She shook her head. “You’re not hurting me.”

  With his next thrust, he was fully inside of her. She felt a small pop, but disregarded the sensation, focusing on the incredible feeling of fullness now that he was deep inside of her body. “Just stay here for a moment,” she pleaded, her eyes closing as she wiggled her hips, getting used to him like this.

  “Jane, I can’t hold still much longer. Tell me that you’re okay.”

  She laughed softly. “I’m more than okay, Caleb. I feel wonderful.”

  He opened his eyes and looked down at her. “You’re about to feel much more wonderful,” he promised. And with that, he shifted, moving in and out of her heat. He watched her eyes, looking for signs that he was hurting her. But she only pulled his hips deeper, urging him to move faster. With each thrust, he noticed her gasps, the way her body lifted and shifted against his thrust. He knew that she was close. Only a few more thrusts and he felt it! Caleb felt her body convulse around his and he wanted to watch her climax for the first time like this, but her body pulled him over the edge and he followed with his own orgasm right behind her. There was no more gentleness. It was just thrusting and breaths mingling as their movements transported each other to a pleasure more intense than anything either of them expected.
